Jenny Baldone, PharmD shares a case study of how pharmacogenomics were critical in managing a Warfarin patient’s case. Jenny has been managing patients through the use of pharmacogenetics for the past three years. She has recently started a program in a community pharmacy in a rural setting.
Warfarin is something that pharmacists manage on a daily basis. Many of the research papers and information is focused on “the dose,” but as Jenny points out, as pharmacists, the perspective is how to manage patients across a lifetime of Warfarin management. She shares a typical case study and her experience with integrating pharmacogenomics into the effort to manage the patient.
